Welcome to my reign of terror.

I received some IMs and emails about how the forums and website(s) were down. I was baffled - I still, amazingly, have money in my bank account.

Well, at first it looked as if all was lost. There was a "parked" page, I couldn't access the servers, nothing. I thought that all of the data was gone and I was about to crack.

I emailed Godaddy (webhost) customer support but the email response time was about 5 hours. I wasn't about to wait 5 hours while someone else could buy up this domain.

Unlike a lot of places, they have 24/7 tech support. Unfortunately, it's NOT an 800 number - it's long-distance. Fortunately, I had a cell phone, so this wasn't a problem, especially at night (free minutes!).

Billing customer support guy, whose name I can't remember (which I feel bad about), was really nice. First, he told me not to panic, since my hosting was still up - it was just the domain that didn't renew. He then informed me that my problem was mainly caused by Bank of America and my own combined stupidity. Well, he didn't say that, but in my brain that's what it comes down to. I can't let BofA take the fall on this one - this was a joint effort between the two of us.

BofA had emailed me a new debit card even though my current one didn't expire for months, and then kindly deactivated my current one. Because they're awesome like that. Anyway, I did have the new one on hand, I just hadn't activated it. I had no real reason for not activating the new debit card yet, except for laziness. I'd only JUST gotten it. So I activated the stupid card and put another payment through.

Voila. Forums have returned, along with the main website (which nobody cares about anyway).

I called customer support back and thanked a guy named Greg. He said he'd look up the last person I'd talked to and put in a note to him and his supervisor that someone had called back to thank him. I wish I could think maybe he'd get a bonus for it or something but honestly in this economy I hope it just helps him hold onto his job.

A bonus?  We can't afford to give you one of those.  We're strapped for funds, you see.

Yeah Bank of America sucks like that.
A couple of weeks ago I went to the bank with my mommy to liberate my bank account from hers and well...one thing led to another and now I can't access my account online because they had a valley girl doing all the stuff I needed to be done.

Who could have guesed that the expiration date is NOT the expiration date? But seriously, someone should point out to them that they aren't being honest when they send the cards out with the expiration date. It should really read "a few months before this date, whenever we feel like sending you the new card, we'll just toast your old one and not bother to roll over things like other banks".

Many bank cards don't expire until they expire.

What other banks do things like Bank of America?

What else does that bank do?
